Steering Committee

Event Planning Committee Lead
Larry Gifford will oversee the global effort from the PD Avengers perspective.
Purpose: Coordinate and execute all campaign-related events.
Responsibilities: Plan launch events, coordinate lighting ceremonies, manage logistics for global events, and ensure smooth execution of campaign milestones.

Country Leads
Purpose: Oversee and execute the global campaign within specific countries, serving as the primary contact between global headquarters and local teams.
Responsibilities: Assemble and manage local teams, ensure everyone understands their roles, and tailor the global strategy to fit the country’s context.

  • USA – Carolyn Wilson

  • UK – Parkinson UK

  • Australia – Parkinson’s Australia

Community Engagement Lead
Bernard and Denise Coley will oversee individual participation and grassroots engagement.
Purpose: Engage local communities and ensure grassroots support.
Responsibilities: Coordinate with local groups, organize community events, manage volunteer networks, and ensure inclusivity and accessibility.

Additional Roles Needed:

  • Country Leads: (see chart on following pages for countries that need leads) Lead the campaign in specific countries, track building and landmark requests, and manage communications. Highlight approved sites in yellow on the tracker.

  • Partnerships and Sponsorships Lead: Secure sponsorships and forge partnerships with corporations, local governments, and international organizations.

  • Creative and Design Committee: Design lighting themes, create visual content, and manage the campaign’s artistic direction.

  • Impact Assessment and Reporting Lead: Measure and report on the campaign’s success and impact.

Additionally, we need volunteers for each of these committees. If you cannot commit to leading a committee, please consider volunteering with one of these groups.
